Krungsri reaffirms its leading position of sustainability by joining hands with experts to conduct a virtual business seminar: “Thailand’s Decarbonization Mechanism and ESG Finance Trend”

Bangkok (12 May 2022) –
Krungsri (Bank of Ayudhya PCL) in collaboration with
Mitsubishi UFJ Research and Consulting Co., Ltd. and
MU Research and Consulting (Thailand) Co., Ltd., responded to the global sustainability trend with a virtual seminar under the topic of
“Thailand’s Decarbonization Mechanism and ESG Finance Trend”, held on April 27, 2022. Over 200 participants from leading companies in Thailand, Japan and Singapore attended this virtual seminar. They were representatives from leading manufacturing, construction, transportation, and financial companies in each country. The virtual seminar emphasized Krungsri’s key focus to be a trusted partner for customers in term of ESG.
The seminar began with
Mr. Bunsei Okubo, Krungsri Deputy Head of JPC/MNC Banking, giving an opening remark to this virtual event. He talked about MUFG’s commitment on "MUFG Carbon Neutrality Declaration" back in May 2021, committing to achieve net zero emissions in their finance portfolio by 2050 and own operations by 2030. Then followed by the keynote speech from
Mrs. Gloyta Nathalang, Executive Vice President, Corporate Branding, Communication and Sustainability Activation, Bangchak Corporation PCL, sharing about global climate change and Carbon Markets Club and then
Mr. Pakawee Silpanon, Head, Management and Promotion of Greenhouse Gas Reduction Section, Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT) shared how to offset CO2 emission with renewable energy certificate (REC), of which 2.17 million RECs were issued in 2021.
From Krungsri’s and MUFG’s side, the key highlight was about Krungsri and MUFG’s capability on ESG product and research.
Mr. Poonsit Wongthawatchai, Executive Vice President, Head of Environmental, Social, and Governance Division, Krungsri introduced the overview of Krungsri ESG activities and the Bank’s sustainability vision to be the most sustainable commercial banking in Thailand.
Ms. Jamjun Siriganjanavong, Senior Vice President, Head of Debt Capital Markets Department, Krungsri also gave the overview of ESG finance products and Krungsri’ s offerings that covered the wide range of ESG finance instruments which were Green, Social, Sustainability and Sustainability-Linked Bonds and Loans. Mr. Kazuki Ikegami, Managing Director, MU Research and Consulting (Thailand) Co., Ltd. sharing about the role of MURC as a think tank of MUFG and capable to support customers to plan their ESG strategy.
