Krungsri Zero Waste Turn food waste into soil nutrients

3 December 2020

Bangkok (3 December 2020) – Mr. Seiichiro Akita, far right, President and Chief Executive Officer of Bank of Ayudhya PCL, leads Krungsri in addressing the country’s development challenges in multiple dimensions, while being committed to the Bank’s mission of environmental responsibility. On the latest development, Krungsri installed a food waste decomposer using biotechnology for aerobic conversion of food waste into high quality organic fertilizer for application in agriculture, thereby reducing 90 percent of food waste within 24 hours. This not only helps reduce food waste, one of the biggest social issues, but also creates soil nutrients while reducing greenhouse gas emissions that contribute to global warming.

The installation of the food waste decomposer is part of the Bank’s mission under the Krungsri Zero Waste project in reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 7.5 million kg of carbon dioxide equivalents (7.5 million kgCO2e) in 2020. In light of this, Krungsri places great importance on instilling a sense of environmental conservation in the face of climate change.
