Krungsri and Western Union Offer Digital Money Transfers via Krungsri Mobile App

Bangkok (14 June 2022) – Krungsri (Bank of Ayudhya PCL) has announced the launch of the Western Union Money Transfers Service on the Krungsri Mobile App (KMA). The service enables Krungsri bank account holders to receive and send money via KMA conveniently, around the clock, and without the requirement for advance registration. The new service addresses customers’ needs, strengthens the existing customer base and expands to a new customer base through multiple service channels.

Miss Kamolwan Imruthaicharoenchok, Krungsri Executive Vice President, Head of Wealth and Retail Products Division, said: “Krungsri has been a long-standing Agent of Western Union in Thailand. Over the years, we have focused our efforts to elevate international money transfer services across multiple avenues, including, but not limited to, upgrading of service quality, expansion of service points, and extension of service channels to offer maximum convenience to the customers. Krungsri and Western Union have enjoyed a successful collaboration over time and we look forward to continuing moving forward by adding KMA as a new service channel that matches today’s customer preference. Moreover, existing Krungsri bank account holders can use the service immediately and are not required to apply and wait for the registration. New customers can open a Krungsri bank account and download KMA to avail Western Union services.”

“Currently Krungsri Western Union offers international money transfer transactions via 4 channels, i.e., Krungsri branches or exchange booths nationwide, Krungsri Online (KOL), Krungsri ATMs, and Krungsri “Call4Western Union”. Most transactions are receive-money transactions from foreign countries, most of which are European countries and the US. The remainings are send-money transactions from Thailand to recipients in foreign countries such as the Philippines, Myanmar, and Laos. More specifically, most of these transactions are remittances sent by foreign workers in Thailand to their home countries whereas the rest are sent for the purpose of making payments for goods and services. We believe that the additional channel enables the convenient, quick, and safe service for Thai and foreign customers who own Krungsri account and KMA. Customers are able to complete the transactions with just a few clicks, in line with current lifestyle behaviors in using smartphones for financial transactions,” Miss Kamolwan added.

Krungsri customers who successfully complete their first international money transfer with Western Union via KMA during 25 April 2022 - 31 August 2022 will receive Lotus’s e-Coupons worth 100 Baht. The offer is valid only during the term of the promotion and while stocks last.
