Foreign Currency Deposit Accounts for Resident |

Foreigners are entitled to make deposits/ withdrawals anytime. Importers and exporters registered in Thailand with the need to keep a balance handy in order to pay for expenses in a foreign currency within 6 months are entitled to open a foreign currency account at any branch offering the foreign currency deposit service, so as to facilitate international financial transactions and safely handle the risk that comes with fluctuating currency exchange rates. Clients can make cash deposits/ withdrawals or transfer overseas funds in 8 currencies, or withdraw in Baht free of charge and get the highest Baht exchange rate (T/T buying). Applicable for savings / time deposit / current account.
Foreign Currency Deposit Account - Resident)
Resident can open and maintain foreign currency accounts with authorized banks in Thailand. The account must be deposited with funds that originate from abroad. The depositor must submit evidences showing the obligations to pay in foreign currency on every transaction.
Who can open a resident account
1. Business, institution or juristic persons registered for operation in Thailand
2. Branches and representative offices located in Thailand with their owner established or incorporated in a foreign country
3. Thai embassies, consulate and officials who temporarily work in a foreign country

Foreign Currency Deposit Accounts for Non Resident

|
Non Resident can open and maintain foreign currency accounts with authorized banks in Thailand. The accounts must be deposited with funds that originate from abroad. Balances on such accounts may be transferred without restriction.
Who can open a Non resident account
1. Branches or representative offices in countries outside Thailand
2. Foreign Tourists
3. Expatriates or foreigners who temporarily work in Thailand
4. Foreign government agencies including embassies, consulate, or UN specialized agencies such as UN Escap, FAO, Unicef etc.
5. International organizations located in Thailand but were established by the government of the country to which such organizations belong. If such organizations were established by a private sector and are currently located in Thailand, the account must be open under the “Non Resident Account”.
